What Affects the Cost of Cosmetic Enhancement in Australia

There is no way to quote an average cost of cosmetic enhancement procedures in general.  How much you will spend varies greatly depending upon several factors.

For example non-surgical cosmetic enhancement costs are determined by

  • The number of areas on the face or body that are being treated.
  • The number of treatment sessions that are required.

For cosmetic surgery procedures, you will need to factor in these four, highly variable costs:

  • Surgeon’s Fee – varies based on the complexity of the procedure and the time that is required.
  • Day Surgery Costs
  • Anaesthesiologist Fees
  • Cosmetic Enhancement Device Costs (e.g., breast implants, injectable cosmetic medicine)
  • After-Care Costs (special creams, prescription medications, post-op tests, stockings, or pressure bandages/suits that assist the outcome of a procedure)

Insurance reimbursement can also affect the cost of cosmetic surgery in Australia. A procedure that is done solely to improve physical appearance may not be covered by insurance. By contrast, surgery that is reconstructive or necessary to improve the function of a body part may be covered.

Cosmetic Enhancement Price Advice

Whatever procedure you may be considering, it is wise to visit many surgeons’ websites and create a short list of surgeons that stand out for their superior training, experience, results, and reputation. Based on these factors, you may find that the most expensive surgeon is not the ideal surgeon for you.

Your research will also help you establish an average cost for the procedure you want. This will allow you to avoid any practitioner offering lowball pricing. Artificially low prices are often an attempt to fill the empty O.R. schedule of an unpopular surgeon, or may not be the inclusive cost of surgery.

A reminder: GST must be added to all costs quoted.
