A message from our President

As we move into the next decade, the academy’s mission and purpose remain strong.

The AAFPS was created to facilitate and contribute to the work of qualified surgeons in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck.

We strive to promote the study, research, and scientific advancement in the field of facial plastic surgery.

The AAFPS brings together all the specialties that have common interests. These specialties typically being oto-rhinolarynology, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology and general plastic surgery.

The academy promotes appropriate training schemes in the subspecialty of facial plastic surgery including an international clinical fellowship based in Sydney. There is now a well-established program of annual educational events and workshops from those that feature world-renown experts to hands-on cadaveric training.

We will evolve in the post-pandemic era to deliver more locally curated online educational content and please look out for these new activities.

Finally, the AAFPS is the peak body that represents facial plastic surgeons in Australasia. The academy recently moved to incorporate a new membership category of “Fellow” of the AAFPS. This membership reflects those duly qualified surgeons that contribute to our mission and serve the facial plastic surgery needs of the Australian community.

Now is a tremendous time to reengage with the academy and join us in our mission.
