Principal Convenor: Catherine Meller, Australia

Clinical Associate Professor Catherine Meller is an Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck and Facial Reconstructive surgeon. She completed her specialist ENT training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and spent a further 2 years training at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and John Hopkins Baltimore, in the USA, specialising in treating patients with facial nerve disorders, skin cancers, and other facial concerns including congenital and post-traumatic conditions. Catherine is the Clinical Director of Post Graduate Training and the head of the Facial Nerve Clinic at Prince of Wales Hospital. She is also a Director of the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation.

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, USA

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh is the clinical chief of the division of Otolaryngology/facial plastic surgery at Cedars-Sinai and an Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA with a clinical focus on deep plane facelifts, facial reanimation, and rhinoplasty. He completed his fellowship at Harvard in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery with special focus on facial reanimation, and is now a recognised leader in this field, including pioneering selective neurolysis techniques. Dr. Azizzadeh is currently the co-director of the AAFPRS Fellowship Program, the western regional director of the AAFPRS and President of the Sir Charles Bell Society.

Dr. Katherine Fedder, USA

Dr. Katie Fedder is a fellowship trained Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Surgeon at the University of Virginia. She completed her residency training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and fellowship in Head and Neck and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami in Florida.  Dr. Fedder’s special expertise lies in complex microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck, including free flap reconstruction of congenital facial palsy. She is also trained in transoral robotic surgery utilizing the da Vinci system, and she is passionate about contemporary techniques that achieve optimal functional and aesthetic results.

Dr. Sim Choroomi, Australia

Dr Sim Choroomi is an Australian trained ENT surgeon and US Fellowship trained in Facial Plastic Surgery. He is the current president of the AAFPS, Fellowship Director and Co-Convenor of the Sydney Rhinoplasty course. He has a special interest in revision rhinoplasty and Facial aesthetic surgery.

Dr. George Marcells, Australia

Dr Marcells is an ENT surgeon specialising in Facial Plastic Surgery based in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. He is the Past President of the AAFPS (Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery). He is Co-Director of both the Sydney Rhinology Fellowship (which accepts Fellows for advanced Rhinology training through the American Match program) and the Sydney Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship.

Dr. Hubert Low, Australia

Dr Low is currently the chair of the Sydney Facial Nerve Service, as well as, manages the Head and Neck Database, which is currently the largest clinicopathological database dedicated to head and neck malignancies in the southern hemisphere. Dr Low’s research interest included outcome research involving mucosal and cutaneous malignancies, as well as, research in the field of facial nerve disorder. He has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally, and published in a large number of international peer-reviewed research articles. Dr Low speaks fluent Mandarin, Hokkien dialects and Malay. Outside medicine, his interests lie in gardening, music and painting. He enjoys music making with friends, and his 3 children.
