Dr. Pietro Palma & Dr. Paolo Castelnuovo,

Co-Directors

Dr. Pietro Palma, is a rhinoplasty surgeon respected across the surgical world for his innovative techniques and teachings. “The nose is one of the most symbolic parts of our body, and a cornerstone of any individual’s sexual identity.  It provides a natural passage for air—and is therefore essential for maintaining life,” writes Dr. Palma on his website. “The nose is a sensory organ that reacts to fear, danger and pleasure.”

He notes that “the fundamental importance of the nose was realised even in the ancient world. Cycladic statues from 5000 years ago depict faces that only portray the nose with no other facial features.”

His masterclass is titled: Rhinoplasty 2015: The Matrix Reloaded

Dr. Paolo Castelnuovo, is a rhinoplasty surgeon and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Insubria, in Varese, Italy. He has been invited to be a guest operating surgeon in several national and International courses with live-TV surgery.

Dr. Castelnuovo will host a master class on Sino-nasal, Skull Base, and Orbit Endoscopic techniques.

Peers Teaching Peers of All Ages

Since its inception, and to the amazement and delight of its organisers, the Masterclass has been steadily growing. There are a few reasons for this success. Surgical peers, who may only be known through their books or websites, sacrifice their time and take very long flights to teach and learn from each other.

The exchange of ideas is certainly not unidirectional: The seniors often learn from the insights and questions of more junior colleagues. Outside the lecture rooms, they are readily available for questions. This interaction builds confidence and forms the basis of long-term friendships.
